The city of Kurgan – the center of Kurgan Region – was founded in 1662 as a peasant settlement of Tsarevo Gorodische on the Tobol River, near Tsarev Kurgan. This place, where the Tobol River makes a marked curve, seemed to be a very advantageous for the foundation of a strong point. From the south, the most dangerous direction, the area was protected by the river and over it towered Kurgan – an important strategic eminence. The settlement Tsarevo Gorodische was founded here. The 1690s were hard for the inhabitants of the settlement. In this time in the steppes behind the Ural and of the North Kazakhstan a new formidable rival of the Russian settlers, the Kirgiz-Kaysaks (the Kazakhs), appeared. In July, 1691 the nomads burnt down the burg of the settlement and plundered Tsarevo Gorodische.

Kurgan obtained the status of the city by the order of Ekaterina the Second in 1782. From mid 19th century Kurgan became the center for trade in agricultural and cattle-breeding products (bread, lard, butter, leather).

The industry was represented by processing industry of agricultural raw materials. To the end of the 19th century the city developed slowly, being one of exile places. At different times 13 Decembrists served out here in exile. The launching of the Trans-Sibirian Railway through the city gave a strong impulse for the development of Kurgan. The railway created very auspicious conditions for the raising of the industry of the region. In 1913 there were already 49 plants in the city. The appearance of the city changed: many buildings were built, which to this very day are the pride of Kurgan, for example, the Church of Alexander Nevskiy – the unique monument of Siberian architecture, included in the Encyclopedia Britannica.

In the years of the Great Patriotic War the city received 15 big industrial plants from the Western part of the country and about 20 thousand evacuated people. The region of Kurgan is the gates to Siberia. The advantageous geographical position (on the crossing of the Trans-Sibirian Railway with other developed transport routes to the countries of Central Asia) allows to strengthen the collaboration with other regions utilizing the riches of Ural, petroleum and gas of Tyumen.

In Kurgan there is a world known All-Russian Scientific Ilizarov Center “Restorative Traumatology and Orthopedy”.

Historical dates:

In 1894 the Trans-Sibirian Railway was launched through Kurgan.
In 1905 one of the first plants of water turbines in Russia was launched in Kurgan.
In 1907 one of the biggest Russian cooperative societies – the Union of Sibirian Butter Producers, which united more than 1000 small enterprises was founded in Kurgan.
In 1943 the Kurgan Region was constituted with its center in the city of Kurgan.

The main principle of our work is quality and reliability of cargo forwarding.
