A small settlement called Vartovskie Yurty Ostiatskie was the ancestor of Nizhnevartovsk. It consisted of few houses, situated on the Chekhlomey Canal near the Ob River. Nizhnevartovsk is considered to be founded in 1909, when a landing stage providing steamers with firewood was built on the Ob River on the place, where the Vakh River flows in it, opposite the old village Vartovsk (now Vampugol). Soon the settlers built five houses near the landing stage, which were occupied by 11 people. They collected firewood up, hunted fur animals and fished.
There are a lot of legends about the name of the settlement “Vartovsk”. The following explanation is considered to be the most reliable: old settlers made tar in boilers. Black resinous mass, called in Russland “var”, was used mainly for construction and repair of boats. The name of the settlement came from the verb “varit’“(=boil, cook).

In January 1924 the Village Soviet of People’s Deputies of Nizhnevartovsk was founded.
On September 29, 1964 the village Nizhnevartovskoe was transformed into the settlement of workers. On May 29, 1965 the chief of the Megionskiy oil-prospecting expedition wired to the chief of the Tiumen’ Geological Exploration Administration about a new oil fountain of more than 300 cubic meter per day. From this time a new period in the development of Nizhnevartovsk began. This deposit, called Samotlor, glorified the city.

On March 9, 1972 Nizhnevartovsk gained the status of a city. Samotlor as the biggest pearl in the oil necklace of the region was framed with dozens of subterranean pantries with more modest reserves. In 1976 the production association “Nizhnevartovskneftegas” was founded. The biggest oil and gas extraction enterprise on the territory of the Nizhnevartovsk Region is the open joint-stock company “TNK-VR-Management”. In Nizhnevartovsk a complex for processing associated petroleum gas was founded. Many industrial facilities appeared in the city, among them building organisations, repair firms, the logistics enterprises. In recent times small and medium businesses develop quickly.

Historical dates:
In 1961 the Megionskoe deposit was discovered. Oil was found in the Nizhnevartovsk Region.
In 1965 oil was found in Samotlor.
In 1972 the workers’ settlement of Nizhnevartovskiy (the Khanty-Mansiysk Region) was transformed into city of district subordination.
In 1973 the construction of the world's largest oil pipeline Samotlor - Tyumen - Almetyevsk was finished.
In 1980 a billion tons of oil has been extracted in Nizhnevartovsk.

The main principle of our work is quality and reliability of cargo forwarding.
