Stavropol was founded on October 22, 1777 as one of the fortresses of the Azov-Mozdok fortification line. In terms of Greek language Stavropol is the ‘rood's town’. There is a tale that during the laying of this fortress the Vladimirskiy regiment's solders found a stone rood, and due to this finding the fortress was named Stavropol. This name was historically confirmed because it not only reflected the fact of stone rood finding but also the city's role in the Orthodoxy development in the Northern Caucasia.

Stavropol is equidistant from the North Pole and the Equator. Moreover, the city is located at the highest point of the Ciscaucasia and on the basins divide between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. Due to this central location Stavropol plays an important geopolitical role stamped in the symbolic phrase: "Stavropol is the gateway of the Caucasia".

At the end of the 18th – 19th centuries Stavropol was the command center controlling the Caucasia line and Black Sea Region troops. The main post road between the Caucasia and the central regions of the European part of Russia passed through the city. Stavropol was fast progressing up to 1875, when the Vladikavkaz railway line was opened to traffic within more than 50 kilometers southerly of the city. At the end of the 19th - the beginning of the 20th centuries Stavropol was the merchant city. The main goods produced here were bread and cattle.

The history remade Stavropol the capital of the border area. Since 1994 it was the command staff residence of the biggest special Red Banners Caucasian frontier district. As before, Stavropol plays an important role in the Russian state system formation on its southern frontiers. Today Stavropol is the administrative, economical and cultural center of the Stavropol Region.

Historical dates:

In 1785 Stavropol gained the status of the center of the Caucasian Province.

In 1822 Stavropol became the center of the Caucasian Region and in 1847 – the center of the Stavropol Province on the Caucasian Vicegerency.

In 1875 the Vladikavkaz railway was opened to traffic within more than 50 kilometers southerly of the city.

In 1897 the Stavropol railway line was connected with the Vladikavkaz railway.

In 1935-43 Stavropol was named Voroshilovsk after the soviet governmental party worker Ê.Å. Voroshilov (1881-1969).

In 1943 before the liberation from the german invasion Voroshilovsk was renamed Stavropol again.

The main principle of our work is quality and reliability of cargo forwarding.
