Yakutsk is the capital city of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
The city was founded as the Yakutsky (Lensky) burg on September 25, 1632. On that day a detachment of the Enisey Cossacks headed by Peter Beketov during the exploration of the Lena River laid the foundation stone of the Lensky burg on the right bank of the river, 70 km north of the present-day Yakutsk.
In 1642-43 the burg was moved to the place where the modern Yakutsk is situated: to the Tuymaada valley on the left bank of the Lena River.
In 1680s a city was founded and a wooden fortress was built. The fortress became the administrative, military and trade centre of the Eastern Siberia.
In 1822 Yakutsk became the central city of the Yakutsk Region. In 1851 Yakutia gained the status of an autonomous region.

Nowadays Yakutsk is a large industrial and scientific centre of Yakutia. The main industries are production of building materials, timber industry, coal mining and electricity production. The republic is rich in tin, oil, gold and diamonds. The Yakutsk company ‘Diamonds of Russia – Sakha’ extracts about 25% of the world's diamonds, mainly the mineral ones, widely used in jewelry.

Yakutsk is the largest transport hub in the north-western part of Siberia. The distance to Moscow is 8468 km, the nearest railway station ‘Tommot’ is situated in 453 km from Yakutsk. The river port is located on the Lena River.

Historical dates:

In 1851 Yakutia gained the status of an autonomous region. Yakutsk became its central city.

In 1922 the territory of Yakytia was declared the Yakutsk Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.

On October 20, 1999 the State Assembly passed the law ‘Concerning the status of Yakutsk, capital city of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)’ regulating the functions of Yakutsk as a capital city and the procedure of reimbursement of related expenses, as well as providing additional powers to the city authorities.

The main principle of our work is quality and reliability of cargo forwarding.
